Today the Southeast Board of Health approved its 2026-2028 Strategic Plan, a first for the new agency formed in January 2025 through the voluntary merger of Hastings Prince Edward Public Health; Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington Public Health; and the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit.
“This is an historic day for Southeast Public Health. After a great deal of work by the Board, I am confident that the priorities we have set in our first Strategic Plan support our vision for healthy, thriving communities across Southeastern Ontario supported by strong systems and equitable conditions,” said Board Chair Nathan Townend.
“This inaugural Strategic Plan aims to ensure that every community we serve has access to high quality, equitable public health services delivered by a unified and trusted team of health professionals.”
The Board’s plan identifies five strategic priorities, with associated key initiatives. The Board has outlined the following priorities for 2026 to 2028:
- Build our new identity on the foundation of equitable and responsive service delivery through increased capacity and innovation.
- External communications, engagement, and public accountability.
- Current and future budget planning to ensure sustainability of Southeast Public Health.
- Risk management and organizational resilience, including emergency management.
- Strengthen communications between Medical Officer of Health, agency employees, and the Southeast Board of Health.
